Fact 1: I am a drummer. I have played for about 12 years. I was in a band in high school and I loved playing. The band continued on without me while I moved on to college, and about 3 weeks ago I read an article that they signed a record contract.
Fact 2: I teach at the same elementary school as my wife. That's how we met actually. Five years ago our school had a very high turnover and a handful of new staff members also happened to be first year teachers. My wife and I were at our new teacher orientation and the moment she walked in I text messaged (so net generation of me) my best friend and my sister and told them I found the girl of my dreams and I was never coming back home to Pennsylvania. Five years later, we're married, and I'm not back in Pennsylvania!
Fact 3: I am a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Growing up in central Pennsylvania that's just the way it is. Saturday, watch Penn State games, Sunday, go to mass and watch the Steelers. Our yellow lab is named Rooney after the very respectable Rooney family who are the majority owners of the Steelers- good people. I love living in Maryland and dishing out (and taking) jabs at (from) Redskins fans (my wife included) and Ravens fans.
Fact 4:I just recently decided that I would like to teach college level education classes. Despite the fact that I am not even finished with my first Master's degree, I started looking up information on post graduate work. Time will tell I guess!
What I'd like to learn or get out of this course:
I'd like to learn about the various differences among the more recent generations. I'd also like to learn about ways to make learning more fun and engaging for students of the net generation. From a possible future administrator's perspective, I'd like to learn about ways to help motivate Baby Boomer and Generation X teachers to embrace and use technology with their students as well as change their instructional techniques to meet the learning styles of today's new students.
My favorite game(s):
Any Madden games. At our house I play Madden 10 on our Wii. When I go to my mom's house I do not hesitate to break out the Super Nintendo and play Madden 95.
